Without this class I would either be dead or in jail.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for what you taught me in class last year. Right outa the gate my grades dropped and I could tell it was going to be a stressful semester. Then I remembered the breathing techniques and meditation you taught me last year. My grades started to come up and now I have a group of 7-15 people join me on campus every week and they text me about how it’s their favorite day of the week and how it has helped their grades.

Mrs. Howard’s Controlling Stress class helped me find a sense of self. Because of the skills I learned in this class, I’m now able to focus on what really matters.

Thank you for teaching me to be more grateful, mindful, respectful, and helping me find inner peace. Ever since I learned to meditate in your class, I have made it a part of my routine and it has changed my life.

I have been teaching my little brother the yoga and breathing techniques. He has a lot of anger and the anger breath and alternate nostril breath really help him. His teachers said that they have noticed a difference in him.

I absolutely loved the stress reduction class Marykay led after school. After a hard day of dealing with students, parents, and administrators, the class taught me to let go of the tension I had built up. I felt much better physically and emotionally. The techniques of the class also helped me get through cancer treatment, helping me to de-stress and focus on positivity and healing. For years, I scheduled meetings and other activities around this class. I basically refused to miss it.

Covid-19 has been very hard to adapt to, but what I have learned in Controlling Stress class has helped me more than anything or anyone else with my stress and anxiety.

I am a Marykay “Groupie” because she always encourages, reassures, and shares her energy and wisdom. The feelings after each and every session were peace, relaxation, and being grounded. Skipping a session was never an option.

I love how my brain thinks so structured, which before my brain was everywhere. I’ve never been so mentally in tune with myself and others, and it’s so hard to explain but amazing. You changed my life Mrs. Howard. Thank you.

Your grounded presence in the classroom is equally as important as the curriculum you teach.
